Flowers & Clay with Joshua Clukey

Ceramic artist Joshua Clukey joins Rachel for a guided foraging walk focused on blooming summer flora and the rich deposits of glacial marine clay at a nearby preserve. Following the walk, Joshua will provide a hands-on wild clay processing demonstration, while Rachel will prepare several clay baked foods and small plates featuring foraged edible flowers. To end the day, these dishes will be shared in a wild food picnic among the Langlais sculptures.

About Joshua: Joshua Clukey works with glacial marine clay to develop clay bodies and firing techniques that reference the historical brick making and red-ware traditions of coastal Maine. Through foraging and experimentation with mineral inclusions his practice has largely been suspended within this material research. Josh creates ceramics that compel the holder to see their surrounding environment through new ecologies and timescales.
